what is a Bio diseal plant?

The biodiesel production process breaks down the vegetable oil molecule into four smaller molecules which effectively reduces the viscosity of the product, making it similar in constitution to the diesel that we buy on the fore court. The biodiesel product, methyl ester, is generally much more acceptable as a fuel as it has a set of proper standards that can be applied which guarantees a minimum quality level. A huge amount of research has been undertaken into methyl ester biodiesel fuel with considerations such as emissions, engine durability, fuel storage and environmental benefits being taken into account. The current conclusion is that biodiesel is the fuel for the future given that engines are being produced with more complex fuel delivery systems to achieve greater performance, cleaner emissions and improved efficiency. Older engines, particularly the indirect injection type, can be run on straight vegetable oil with reasonably good tail pipe emissions and fuel economy but newer engines tell a different storey. Newer engines are more precisely tailored to the fuel that they use, which is generally ULSD (ultra low sulphur diesel) and so need a biofuel that has similar properties to this fuel. Biodiesel, being of a similar viscosity and chemical constitution to ULSD, does have a future in modern diesel engines.

The very large, soon-to-be-built Iowa plant will use soybeans from local farmers and produce 37.5 million gallons of biodiesel per year. Politicians from the region have been falling over each other to praise the project, calling it good for agriculture, good for US national security, good for jobs and the economy, etc. “The cost of biodiesel is still higher than regular diesel. In almost every area, biodiesel outperforms regular diesel. So, it’s been strictly a cost issue,” Iowa Energy Center spokesman Norm Olson said. Demand for biodiesel has been higher than the supply for a while, so the new plant won’t have much trouble finding buyers, especially since by the time it’s operational the price of oil will almost certainly be higher than it is now.

One of the major concerns of many groups today is the environment. For years people had no idea that the waste they were producing and the fuel they were using was damaging the world that we all live in. As it became more apparent that the climate was changing as a result of what human beings were doing, many companies decided to take steps towards improvement.

In some communities new construction is taking place. Instead of building plants that produce gasoline, you’ll often see a biodiesel plant in its early stages. A biodiesel plant can produce a clean and efficient fuel that can be used in anything that utilizes diesel fuel.

In fact many places are now taking advantage of their local resources to team up with the biodiesel plant. It’s common for farmers to grow soy or canola crops specifically with the intent of selling them to the biodiesel plant so that they can be converted into fuel.

Many of the companies themselves are also growing the plants and then harvesting solely to make biodiesel fuel. This fuel once produced can be used to power anything that uses standard diesel fuel. In addition to being less expensive than diesel fuel it also is much safer to the environment.

The idea of using used vegetable or canola oil is also incorporated into many plants. Many industries can produce a large volume of used oil and having the technology to recycle that into a useable resource is appealing.

If you do happen to hear that a biodiesel plant is going to be built in your city or town, breathe a sigh of relief. You’ll feel happy knowing that your tiny corner of the globe is doing something worthwhile for the rest of the world. Every small step can make an enormous difference and change needs to begin somewhere, so why not in your own backyard?
